now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word: For mine eyes have seen thy salvation: Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people.

For if indeed I have done wrong, and have committed any thing worthy of death, I refuse not to die: but if there is nothing of the things whereof these accuse me, no man can give me up to them.

Peter saith to him, If I must die with thee, yet will I in no wise deny thee. In like manner also said all the disciples.

But he said the more vehemently, If I must die with thee, I will in no wise deny thee. In like manner also said they all.

Peter saith to him, Lord, why cannot I follow thee now? I will lay down my life for thy sake.

Then said Thomas, called Didymus, to his fellow-disciples, Let us also go, that we may die with him.
