And these in like manner are they that are sown on the rocky places, those, who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with joy, and have no root in themselves, but endure only for a time; then, when affliction or persecution ariseth on account of the word, they immediately fall away.

Now the meaning of the parable is this. The seed is the word of God. Those by the wayside are they that hear; then cometh the Devil and taketh away the word from their heart, that they may not believe and be saved. Those on the rocky ground are they who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root; and for a while they believe, and in time of temptation fall away.

But he answered and said, Every plant which my heavenly Father did not plant will be rooted up.

For I am speaking to you gentiles; inasmuch as I am the apostle of the gentiles, I magnify my office, that I may, if possible, excite to emulation those who are my flesh, and may save some of them. For if the rejection of them is the reconciliation of the world, what will the reception of them be, but life from the dead?read more.
