18 Bible Verses about Sacrificing On The High Places

For when I had brought them into the land, for which I lifted up my hand to give it to them, then they saw every high hill and all the thick trees, and they offered there their sacrifices, and there they presented the provocation of their offerings; there also they made their sweet savour and poured out there their drink offerings.

Moreover I will cause to cease in Moab, saith the LORD, him that offers upon an altar and him that burns incense to his gods.

And they answered them and said, He is; behold, he is before you; make haste now, for he came today to the city, for there is a sacrifice of the people today in the high place. As soon as you are come into the city, ye shall straightway find him before he goes up to the high place to eat, for the people will not eat until he comes because he must bless the sacrifice, and afterwards those that are invited eat. Now therefore go up, for about this time ye shall find him. And they went up into the city. And when they were come into the city, behold, Samuel came out before them to go up to the high place.

Until then the people sacrificed in high places because there was still no house built unto the name of the LORD until those days.

However each nation made gods of their own and put them in the houses of the high places which those of Samaria had made, each nation in their city in which they dwelt.
