O how you have fallen from heaven, you morning star (shining one), and son of the dawn! How you have been cut down to the ground, you who conquered nations! But you have been brought down to the grave, to the deepest part of the pit. Those who see you stare at you. They look at you closely and say: 'Is this the man who made the earth tremble, who shook the kingdoms, who made the world like a desert and tore down its cities and did not let his prisoners go home?' All the kings of the nations, all of them, have been buried with honor, each in his own tomb. However you are thrown out of your tomb like a rejected branch. You are covered with those who were killed in battle. You go down to the stones (bottom) of the pit like a trampled corpse. You ruined your country and killed your own people. For that reason, you will not be buried like other kings. None of your evil family will survive.

I appointed an angel to guard you. You were on God's holy mountain. You walked among fiery stones. Your behavior was perfect from the time you were created, until evil was found in you. By the abundance of your trade you were filled with violence, and you sinned. Therefore I have cast you as profane from the mountain of God. Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty. You corrupted your wisdom by reason of your splendor. I cast you to the ground. I put you before kings, that they may see you. War broke out in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon and his angels. The dragon lost and no place in heaven was found for him any longer. The great dragon was thrown down, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, who deceives the whole world. He was hurled down to the earth, and his angels with him.

Now the serpent was craftier than any of the wild animals Jehovah God had made. He said to the woman: Did God really say, you must not eat from any tree in the garden? The woman said to the serpent: We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden. However, God did say: 'You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden. You will not die, the serpent said to the woman. God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened. Then you will be like God, knowing good and evil. When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. Then the eyes of both of them were opened. They realized they were naked. They sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.

You are from your father [Satan] the Devil (slanderer) (false accuser)! You want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning. He does not stand for the truth. There is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks his own lies. He is a liar and the father of the lie!
