And by a prophet LORD brought Israel up out of Egypt, and by a prophet he was preserved.
And there came a man of God to Eli, and said to him, Thus says LORD, Did I reveal myself to the house of thy father when they were in Egypt [in bondage] to Pharaoh's house?
Now there dwelt an old prophet in Bethel. And one of his sons came and told him all the works that the man of God had done that day in Bethel. The words which he had spoken to the king, they also told them to their father.
And he said, Let him be; let no man move his bones. So they let his bones alone, with the bones of the prophet who came out of Samaria.

And, behold, there came a man of God out of Judah by the word of LORD to Bethel. And Jeroboam was standing by the altar to burn incense. And he cried against the altar by the word of LORD, and said, O altar, altar, thus says LORD: Behold, a son shall be born to the house of David, Josiah by name. And upon thee shall he sacrifice the priests of the high places that b And he gave a sign the same day, saying, This is the sign which LORD has spoken: Behold, the altar shall be rent, and the ashes that are upon it shall be poured out.
And a man of God came near and spoke to the king of Israel, and said, Thus says LORD, Because the Syrians have said, LORD is a god of the hills, but he is not a god of the valleys, therefore I will deliver all this great multitude
[and] to speak to the priests of the house of LORD of hosts, and to the prophets, saying, Should I weep in the fifth month, separating myself, as I have done these so many years?
And they said, Some, John the immerser, others, Elijah, but others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.
And those who dwell upon the earth rejoice over them, and will celebrate, and will give gifts to each other, because these two prophets tormented those who dwell on the earth.
