Then he came to Simon Peter; and Peter said to him: Lord, dost thou wash my feet? Jesus answered and said to him: What I am doing you know not now, but you will know here after. Peter said to him: Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him: Unless I wash you, you have no part with me.

And when the scribes and Pharisees saw him eating with publicans and sinners, they said to his disciples: Why is it that he eats and drinks with publicans and sinners? And when Jesus heard it, he said to them: Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I have not come to call righteous men, but sinners.

And when his relatives heard of it, they came out to take him; for they said: He is beside himself.

And he said to them: You know that it is unlawful for a Jew to associate with one of another nation, or to go into his house. But God has showed me that I must not call any man common or unclean. For this reason, when I was sent for, I came without making objection. I ask, therefore, for what purpose have you sent for me?

And the king was very sad; yet, on account of his oath and his guests, he would not reject her. And the king immediately sent one of his guards, and commanded his head to be brought.
