'Abolish' in the Bible

He will swallow up death [and abolish it] for all time. And the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces,And He will take away the disgrace of His people from all the earth; For the Lord has spoken.

“And in that day I will make a covenant for IsraelWith the animals of the open countryAnd with the birds of the heavensAnd with the creeping things of the ground. And I will abolish the bow and the sword and [banish] war from the landAnd will make them lie down in safety.

This is what I mean: the Law, which came into existence four hundred and thirty years later [after the covenant concerning the coming Messiah], does not and cannot invalidate the covenant previously established by God, so as to abolish the promise.

Otherwise, He would have needed to suffer over and over since the foundation of the world; but now once for all at the consummation of the ages He has appeared and been publicly manifested to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.
