'Crime' in the Bible
Have no pity on him, so that Israel may be clear from the crime of putting a man to death without cause, and it will be well for you.
“A single witness shall not appear in a trial against a man for any wrong or any sin which he has committed; [only] on the testimony or evidence of two or three witnesses shall a charge be confirmed.
“If a malicious witness testifies against someone accusing him of a crime,
and they are to make this declaration: "Our hands didn't shed this blood, nor were we witnesses to the crime.
Have mercy, O Lord, on your people Israel whom you have made free, and take away from your people the crime of a death without cause. Then they will no longer be responsible for the man's death.
So you will take away the crime of a death without cause from among you, when you do what is right in the eyes of the Lord.
If a man does a crime for which the punishment is death, and he is put to death by hanging him on a tree;
If the guilty party deserves to be flogged, the judge will make him lie down and be flogged in his presence with the number of lashes appropriate for his crime.
