'Forty two' in the Bible

"And among the cities which ye shall give unto the Levites, there shall be six cities of franchise which ye shall give to that intent that he which committeth a slaughter, may fly thither. And to them ye shall add forty two cities more:

Then the other answered, "Then say, 'Shibboleth.'" And they said, "Syboleth" - and could not so pronounce. Whereupon the others took them and slew them at the passages of Jordan. And there were overthrown at that time, of the Ephraimites, forty two thousand.

And he turned back and looked on them and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came two bears out of the wood and tare forty two of the boys.

And he said, "Take them alive." And they took them alive, and slew them at the well beside the house where the shepherds bind their sheep, in number forty two persons; that he left none of them.

Sixteen years old was he when he was made king, and he reigned forty two years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Jecoliah, and was of Jerusalem.

All these were of the children of Obededom, which, with their brethren and their children, active men of strength to do service, were forty two of Obededom.

but the court which is without the temple cast out, and mete it not: for it is given unto the gentiles, and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty two months.

And there was a mouth given unto him that spake great things, and blasphemies, and power was given unto him, to continue forty two months.
