'Heavens' in the Bible
“Be appalled, O heavens, at this,And shudder, be very desolate,” declares the Lord.
I looked on the earth, and behold, it was formless and void;And to the heavens, and they had no light.
I looked, and behold, there was no man,And all the birds of the heavens had fled.
“For this the earth shall mournAnd the heavens above be dark,Because I have spoken, I have purposed,And I will not change My mind, nor will I turn from it.”
Thus says the Lord,“Do not learn the way of the nations,And do not be terrified by the signs of the heavensAlthough the nations are terrified by them;
Thus you shall say to them, “The gods that did not make the heavens and the earth will perish from the earth and from under the heavens.”
It is He who made the earth by His power,Who established the world by His wisdom;And by His understanding He has stretched out the heavens.
When He utters His voice, there is a tumult of waters in the heavens,And He causes the clouds to ascend from the end of the earth;He makes lightning for the rain,And brings out the wind from His storehouses.
Are there any among the idols of the nations who give rain?Or can the heavens grant showers?Is it not You, O Lord our God?Therefore we hope in You,For You are the one who has done all these things.
“Can a man hide himself in hiding placesSo I do not see him?” declares the Lord.“Do I not fill the heavens and the earth?” declares the Lord.
Thus says the Lord,“If the heavens above can be measuredAnd the foundations of the earth searched out below,Then I will also cast off all the offspring of IsraelFor all that they have done,” declares the Lord.
‘Ah Lord God! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and by Your outstretched arm! Nothing is too difficult for You,
It is He who made the earth by His power,Who established the world by His wisdom,And by His understanding He stretched out the heavens.
When He utters His voice, there is a tumult of waters in the heavens,And He causes the clouds to ascend from the end of the earth;He makes lightning for the rainAnd brings forth the wind from His storehouses.
“Though Babylon should ascend to the heavens,And though she should fortify her lofty stronghold,From Me destroyers will come to her,” declares the Lord.
