'Itself' in the Bible
When a message from the LORD came to Hosea, the LORD told him, "Go marry a prostitute and have children with her, because the land is prostituting itself by departing from the LORD."
I know Ephraim, and Israel is not hidden from Me;For now, O Ephraim, you have played the harlot,Israel has defiled itself.
In the house of Israel I have seen a horrible thing;Ephraim’s harlotry is there, Israel has defiled itself.

The calf itself will be taken to Assyriaas an offering to the great king.Ephraim will experience shame;Israel will be ashamed of its counsel.
