'Ostriches' in the Bible

“I have become a brother to jackalsAnd a companion of ostriches.

“The ostriches’ wings flap joyouslyWith the pinion and plumage of love,

But desert creatures will lie down there,And their houses will be full of owls;Ostriches also will live there, and shaggy goats will frolic there.

Thorns will come up in its fortified towers,Nettles and thistles in its fortified cities;It will also be a haunt of jackalsAnd an abode of ostriches.

“The beasts of the field will glorify Me,The jackals and the ostriches,Because I have given waters in the wildernessAnd rivers in the desert,To give drink to My chosen people.

“Therefore the desert creatures will live there along with the jackals;The ostriches also will live in it,And it will never again be inhabitedOr dwelt in from generation to generation.

Even jackals offer the breast,They nurse their young;But the daughter of my people has become cruelLike ostriches in the wilderness.

Because of this I must lament and wail,I must go barefoot and naked;I must make a lament like the jackalsAnd a mourning like the ostriches.
