'Painful' in the Bible

“How painful are honest words!But what does your argument prove?

It is vain for you to rise up early,To retire late,To eat the bread of painful labors;For He gives to His beloved even in his sleep.

Because all his days his task is painful and grievous; even at night his mind does not rest. This too is vanity.

And there will be no more for the house of Israel a prickling brier or a painful thorn from any round about them who scorned them; then they will know that I am the Lord God.”
