'Pledged' in the Bible
Jonathan then said to David, “Go in the assurance the two of us pledged in the name of the Lord when we said: The Lord will be a witness between you and me and between my offspring and your offspring forever.” Then David left, and Jonathan went into the city.
All the leaders and the mighty men, and all of King David’s sons as well, pledged their allegiance to King Solomon.
They pledged to send their wives away, and being guilty, they offered a ram from the flock for their guilt;
“Then I passed by you and saw you, and you were indeed at the age for love. So I spread the edge of My garment over you and covered your nakedness. I pledged Myself to you, entered into a covenant with you, and you became Mine.” This is the declaration of the Lord God.
