'Rot' in the Bible

Therefore, as a tongue of fire consumes stubbleAnd dry grass collapses into the flame,So their root will become like rot and their blossom blow away as dust;For they have rejected the law of the Lord of hostsAnd despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.

The canals will emit a stench,The streams of Egypt will thin out and dry up;The reeds and rushes will rot away.

He who is too impoverished for such an offeringSelects a tree that does not rot;He seeks out for himself a skillful craftsmanTo prepare an idol that will not totter.
