'Sank' in the Bible

"Pharaoh's chariots and his army he has hurled into the sea; his best officers sank in the Reed Sea.

"You blew with your breath, and the sea covered them; they sank like lead in the mighty water.

So they threw Jeremiah into a cistern that belonged to the king's son Malchijah and was located in the courtyard of the guard. When they let Jeremiah down with ropes, because there was no water in the cistern only mud Jeremiah sank into the mud.

I sank to the roots of the mountains; the earth's prison bars closed around me forever. Yet you resurrect the dead from the Pit, LORD my God!
