'Shame' in the Bible
You would put to shame the counsel of the afflicted,But the Lord is his refuge.
Let me not be put to shame, O Lord, for I call upon You;Let the wicked be put to shame, let them be silent in Sheol.
Let those be ashamed and humiliated altogether who rejoice at my distress;Let those be clothed with shame and dishonor who magnify themselves over me.
Let those be appalled because of their shameWho say to me, “Aha, aha!”
But You have saved us from our adversaries,And You have put to shame those who hate us.
There they were in great fear where no fear had been;For God scattered the bones of him who encamped against you;You put them to shame, because God had rejected them.
You know my reproach and my shame and my dishonor;All my adversaries are before You.
Let those be turned back because of their shameWho say, “Aha, aha!”
You have shortened the days of his youth;You have covered him with shame. Selah.
Let my accusers be clothed with dishonor,And let them cover themselves with their own shame as with a robe.
I cling to Your testimonies;O Lord, do not put me to shame!
May all who hate ZionBe put to shame and turned backward;
“His enemies I will clothe with shame,But upon himself his crown shall shine.”
