'Spoil' in the Bible
‘Are they not finding, are they not dividing the spoil?A maiden, two maidens for every warrior; To Sisera a spoil of dyed work,A spoil of dyed work embroidered,Dyed work of double embroidery on the neck of the spoiler?’
Yet Gideon said to them, “I would request of you, that each of you give me an earring from his spoil.” (For they had gold earrings, because they were Ishmaelites.)
They said, “We will surely give them.” So they spread out a garment, and every one of them threw an earring there from his spoil.
Then the Spirit of the Lord came upon him mightily, and he went down to Ashkelon and killed thirty of them and took their spoil and gave the changes of clothes to those who told the riddle. And his anger burned, and he went up to his father’s house.
