'Stops' in the Bible

They have venom like the venom of a snake,like the deaf cobra that stops up its ears,

The one who lives righteouslyand speaks rightly,who refuses gain from extortion,whose hand never takes a bribe,who stops his ears from listening to murderous plotsand shuts his eyes to avoid endorsing evil—

All of them commit adultery;they are like an oven heated by a bakerwho stops stirring the firefrom the kneading of the dough until it is leavened.

This is why, if I come, I will remind him of the works he is doing, slandering us with malicious words. And he is not satisfied with that! He not only refuses to welcome the brothers himself, but he even stops those who want to do so and expels them from the church.
