'Took' in the Bible

He reached from on high, He took me;He drew me out of many waters.

Yet You are He who pulled me out of the womb;You made me trust when on my mother’s breasts.

They saw it, then they were amazed;They were stricken with terror, they fled in alarm.

Panic seized them there,And pain, as that of a woman in childbirth.

Upon You have I relied and been sustained from my birth;You are He who took me from my mother’s womb and You have been my benefactor from that day.My praise is continually of You.

He also chose David His servantAnd took him from the sheepfolds;

You cleared away the ground before it,And it took deep root and filled the land.

Your eyes have seen my unformed substance;And in Your book were all writtenThe days that were appointed for me,When as yet there was not one of them [even taking shape].
