'Anointed' in the Bible

The kings of the earth take their standAnd the rulers take counsel togetherAgainst the Lord and against His Anointed, saying,

He gives great deliverance to His king,And shows lovingkindness to His anointed,To David and his descendants forever.

Now I know that the Lord saves His anointed;He will answer him from His holy heavenWith the saving strength of His right hand.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;You have anointed my head with oil;My cup overflows.

The Lord is their strength,And He is a saving defense to His anointed.

You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness;Therefore God, Your God, has anointed YouWith the oil of joy above Your fellows.

Behold our shield, O God,And look upon the face of Your anointed.

“I have found David My servant;With My holy oil I have anointed him,

But You have cast off and rejected,You have been full of wrath against Your anointed.

With which Your enemies have reproached, O Lord,With which they have reproached the footsteps of Your anointed.

But You have exalted my horn like that of the wild ox;I have been anointed with fresh oil.

“Do not touch My anointed ones,And do My prophets no harm.”

For the sake of David Your servant,Do not turn away the face of Your anointed.

“There I will cause the horn of David to spring forth;I have prepared a lamp for Mine anointed.
