'Awful' in the Bible

David said to God, "Was I not the one who decided to number the army? I am the one who sinned and committed this awful deed! As for these sheep -- what have they done? O Lord my God, attack me and my family, but remove the plague from your people!"

They say, 'An awful disease overwhelms him, and now that he is bed-ridden he will never recover.'

So I loathed life because what happens on earth seems awful to me; for all the benefits of wisdom are futile -- like chasing the wind.

For a man may do his work with wisdom, knowledge, and skill; however, he must hand over the fruit of his labor as an inheritance to someone else who did not work for it. This also is futile, and an awful injustice!

How awful that day will be! For the day of the Lord is near; it will come as destruction from the Divine Destroyer.
