'Bride' in the Bible

“Come with me from Lebanon, my bride,May you come with me from Lebanon.Journey down from the summit of Amana,From the summit of Senir and Hermon,From the dens of lions,From the mountains of leopards.

“You have made my heart beat faster, my sister, my bride;You have made my heart beat faster with a single glance of your eyes,With a single strand of your necklace.

“How beautiful is your love, my sister, my bride!How much better is your love than wine,And the fragrance of your oilsThan all kinds of spices!

“Your lips, my bride, drip honey;Honey and milk are under your tongue,And the fragrance of your garments is like the fragrance of Lebanon.

“A garden locked is my sister, my bride,A rock garden locked, a spring sealed up.

“I have come into my garden, my sister, my bride;I have gathered my myrrh along with my balsam.I have eaten my honeycomb and my honey;I have drunk my wine and my milk.Eat, friends;Drink and imbibe deeply, O lovers.”

“Lift up your eyes and look around;All of them gather together, they come to you.As I live,” declares the Lord,“You will surely put on all of them as jewels and bind them on as a bride.

I will rejoice greatly in the Lord,My soul will exult in my God;For He has clothed me with garments of salvation,He has wrapped me with a robe of righteousness,As a bridegroom decks himself with a garland,And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.

For as a young man marries a virgin,So your sons will marry you;And as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride,So your God will rejoice over you.

“Can a virgin forget her ornaments,Or a bride her attire?Yet My people have forgotten MeDays without number.

Then I will make to cease from the cities of Judah and from the streets of Jerusalem the voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride; for the land will become a ruin.

For thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: “Behold, I am going to eliminate from this place, before your eyes and in your time, the voice of rejoicing and the voice of gladness, the voice of the groom and the voice of the bride.

Moreover, I will take from them the voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones and the light of the lamp.

Gather the people, sanctify the congregation,Assemble the elders,Gather the children and the nursing infants.Let the bridegroom come out of his roomAnd the bride out of her bridal chamber.
