'Closer' in the Bible
Then Isaac said to Jacob, “Please come closer so I can touch you, my son. Are you really my son Esau or not?”
So Jacob came closer to his father Isaac. When he touched him, he said, “The voice is the voice of Jacob, but the hands are the hands of Esau.”
"Come closer to me," Isaac replied, "so I can eat some of the game, my son, and then bless you." So Jacob came closer, and Isaac ate. Jacob also brought wine so his father could drink.
Then his father Isaac said to him, “Please come closer and kiss me, my son.”
So he came closer and kissed him. When Isaac smelled his clothes, he blessed him and said:Ah, the smell of my sonis like the smell of a fieldthat the Lord has blessed.
Then Joseph said to his brothers, “Please come closer to me.” And they came closer. And he said, “I am your brother Joseph, whom you sold into Egypt.
Joseph positioned them; he put Ephraim on his right hand across from Israel's left hand, and Manasseh on his left hand across from Israel's right hand. Then Joseph brought them closer to his father.
