'Hide' in the Bible
Why do You stand far away, O Lord?Why do You hide [Yourself, veiling Your eyes] in times of trouble?
How long, O Lord? Will You forget me forever?How long will You hide Your face from me?
Keep and protect me, O God, for in You I have placed my trust and found refuge.
Keep me [in Your affectionate care, protect me] as the apple of Your eye;Hide me in the [protective] shadow of Your wings
For in the day of trouble He will hide me in His shelter;In the secret place of His tent He will hide me;He will lift me up on a rock.
Do not hide Your face from me,Do not turn Your servant away in anger;You have been my help;Do not abandon me nor leave me,O God of my salvation!
In the secret place of Your presence You hide them from the plots and conspiracies of man;You keep them secretly in a shelter (pavilion) from the strife of tongues.
I acknowledged my sin to You,And I did not hide my wickedness;I said, “I will confess [all] my transgressions to the Lord”;And You forgave the guilt of my sin. Selah.
Why do You hide Your faceAnd forget our affliction and our oppression?
Hide Your face from my sinsAnd blot out all my iniquities.
Listen to my prayer, O God,And do not hide Yourself from my plea.
For it is not an enemy who taunts me—Then I could bear it;Nor is it one who has hated me who insolently exalts himself against me—Then I could hide from him.
They attack, they hide and lurk,They watch my steps,As they have [expectantly] waited to take my life.
Hide me from the secret counsel and conspiracy of the ungodly,From the scheming of those who do wrong,
Do not hide Your face from Your servant,For I am in distress; answer me quickly.
I will open my mouth in a parable [to instruct using examples];I will utter dark and puzzling sayings of old [that contain important truth]—
We will not hide them from their children,But [we will] tell to the generation to come the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord,And [tell of] His great might and power and the wonderful works that He has done.
O Lord, why do You reject me?Why do You hide Your face from me?
How long, O Lord?Will You hide Yourself forever?Will Your wrath burn like fire?
Can a throne of destruction be allied with You,One which frames and devises mischief by decree [under the sacred name of law]?
Do not hide Your face from me in the day of my distress!Incline Your ear to me;In the day when I call, answer me quickly.
You hide Your face, they are dismayed;You take away their breath, they dieAnd return to their dust.
I am a stranger on the earth;Do not hide Your commandments from me.
Answer me quickly, O Lord, my spirit fails;Do not hide Your face from me,Or I will become like those who go down into the pit (grave).
Rescue me, O Lord, from my enemies;I take refuge in You.
