'Referring' in the Bible
So the Lord let him alone. (At that time she said, "A bridegroom of blood," referring to the circumcision.)
She named the boy Ichabod, saying, "The glory has departed from Israel," referring to the capture of the ark of God and the deaths of her father-in-law and her husband.
The following events happened in the days of Ahasuerus. (I am referring to that Ahasuerus who used to rule over a hundred and twenty-seven provinces extending all the way from India to Ethiopia.)
So Simon Peter gestured to this disciple to ask Jesus who it was he was referring to.
Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his descendant. Scripture does not say, "and to the descendants," referring to many, but "and to your descendant," referring to one, who is Christ.
