'Rulers' in the Bible
Hear the word of the Lord,You rulers of Sodom;Give ear to the instruction of our God,You people of Gomorrah.
Your rulers are rebelsAnd companions of thieves;Everyone loves a bribeAnd chases after rewards. They do not defend the orphan,Nor does the widow’s plea come before them.
“The Lord has broken the staff of the wicked,The scepter of rulers
All your rulers have fled together,And have been captured without the bow;All of you who were found were taken captive together,Though they had fled far away.
He it is who reduces rulers to nothing,Who makes the judges of the earth meaningless.
“I have aroused one from the north, and he has come; From the rising of the sun he will call on My name; And he will come upon rulers as upon mortar,Even as the potter treads clay.”
Thus says the Lord, the Redeemer of Israel and its Holy One,To the despised One,To the One abhorred by the nation,To the Servant of rulers,“Kings will see and arise,Princes will also bow down,Because of the Lord who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel who has chosen You.”
