'Smitten' in the Bible

For they have persecuted him whom You have struck,And they tell of the pain of those whom You have pierced and wounded.

They are not in trouble as other men,Nor are they plagued like mankind.

For all the day long have I been stricken,And punished every morning.

My heart has been struck like grass and withered,Indeed, [absorbed by my heartache] I forget to eat my food.
