'Soldiers' in the Bible

The chiefs of all the people, even of all the tribes of Israel, took their stand in the assembly of the people of God, 400,000 foot soldiers who drew the sword.

Then the soldiers cut away the ropes of the ship’s boat and let it fall away.

The soldiers’ plan was to kill the prisoners, so that none of them would swim away and escape;
