'Sought' in the Bible

And the chief priests and the scribes heard it, and they sought how they might destroy him; for they feared him, because all the crowd were astonished at his doctrine.

And they sought to lay hold of him, and they feared the crowd; for they knew that he had spoken the parable of them. And they left him and went away.

and they, when they heard it, rejoiced, and promised him to give money. And he sought how he could opportunely deliver him up.

And the chief priests and the whole sanhedrim sought testimony against Jesus to cause him to be put to death, and did not find any.
