'State' in the Bible
And Jesus replying said, A certain man descended from Jerusalem to Jericho and fell into the hands of robbers, who also, having stripped him and inflicted wounds, went away leaving him in a half-dead state.
Jesus seeing this man lying there, and knowing that he was in that state now a great length of time, says to him, Wouldest thou become well?
whom I have sent to you for this very purpose, that he might know your state, and that he might encourage your hearts:
For if after having escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, again entangled, they are subdued by these, their last state is worse than the first.
And angels who had not kept their own original state, but had abandoned their own dwelling, he keeps in eternal chains under gloomy darkness, to the judgment of the great day;
