'Stealthily' in the Bible
David’s men said to him, “Behold, this is the day of which the Lord said to you, ‘Behold, I will hand over your enemy to you, and you shall do to him as seems good to you.’” Then David arose [in the darkness] and stealthily cut off the hem (edge) of Saul’s robe.
David rose and stealthily cut off the corner of Saul's robe. Afterwards, David's conscience bothered him because he had cut off the corner of Saul's robe.
The people stole into the city [of Mahanaim] that day, as people who are humiliated and ashamed steal away when they retreat in battle.
“Now a word was brought to me stealthily,And my ear received a whisper of it.
He sits in the lurking places of the villages;In the hiding places he kills the innocent;His eyes stealthily watch for the unfortunate.
In a time of tranquility, [without warning] he will enter the most productive and richest parts of the kingdom [of Egypt], and he will accomplish that which his fathers never did, nor his fathers’ fathers; he will distribute plunder, spoil and goods among them.
