'Streets' in the Bible
On this account the anger of the Lord has burned against His people,And He has stretched out His hand against them and struck them down.And the mountains quaked, and their corpses lay like refuse in the middle of the streets.For all this His anger is not spent,But His hand is still stretched out.
I send it against a godless nationAnd commission it against the people of My furyTo capture booty and to seize plunder,And to trample them down like mud in the streets.
In their streets they have girded themselves with sackcloth;On their housetops and in their squaresEveryone is wailing, dissolved in tears.
There is an outcry in the streets concerning the wine;All joy turns to gloom.The gaiety of the earth is banished.
Behold, their brave men cry in the streets,The ambassadors of peace weep bitterly.
“Those from among you will rebuild the ancient ruins;You will raise up the age-old foundations;And you will be called the repairer of the breach,The restorer of the streets in which to dwell.
