'Tarried' in the Bible
Even when the cloud lingered over the tabernacle for many days, the Israelites would keep their obligation to the Lord and not set out.
Whether it was two days or a month or a year that the cloud [of the Lord’s presence] lingered over the tabernacle, staying above it, the Israelites remained camped and did not set out; but when it was lifted, they set out.
So Amasa went to summon [the fighting men of] Judah, but he delayed longer than the time which David had set for him.
Then it happened at the end of the year, at the time when kings go out to battle, Joab led out the army and ravaged and devastated the land of the Ammonites, and came and besieged Rabbah. But David stayed at Jerusalem [with Bathsheba]. Joab struck Rabbah and overthrew it.
May those who [reverently] fear You see me and be glad,Because I wait for Your word.
