'Tormented' in the Bible
Now the Spirit of the Lord had turned away from Saul, and an evil spirit from the Lord tormented him.
All his days the wicked man is tormented, and numbered years are allotted to the violent.
If I have eaten the fruits thereof without money, and have tormented to death the souls of its owners:
For day and night you tormented me; you tried to destroy me in the intense heat of summer. (Selah)
For there, those who led us captive asked us for songs. Those who tormented us demanded songs of joy: "Sing us one of the songs of Zion!"
I know that the LORD will act on behalf of the tormented, providing justice for the needy.
A guilty man tormented by bloodshed will be a lifelong fugitive; let no one support him.
But I will put it into the hands of those who tormented and oppressed you, those who said to you, "Lie down, so we can step over you,' so that you had to make your back like the ground, and like a street for them to walk over."
‘If I go out into the field,Then I gaze on those slaughtered with the sword! And if I enter the city,Then I gaze on [those tormented with] the diseases of famine! For both prophet and priest [who should have guided the people]Go about [bewildered and exiled] in a land (Babylon) that they do not know or understand.’”
