'Two' in the Bible
Then when Herod saw that he had been tricked by the magi, he became very enraged, and sent and slew all the male children who were in Bethlehem and all its vicinity, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had determined from the magi.
Now as Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers, Simon who was called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.
Going on from there He saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and He called them.
“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.
When He came to the other side into the country of the Gadarenes, two men who were demon-possessed met Him as they were coming out of the tombs. They were so extremely violent that no one could pass by that way.
As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed Him, crying out, “Have mercy on us, Son of David!”
or a bag for your journey, or even two coats, or sandals, or a staff; for the worker is worthy of his support.
Are not two sparrows sold for a cent? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father.
They *said to Him, “We have here only five loaves and two fish.”
Ordering the people to sit down on the grass, He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up toward heaven, He blessed the food, and breaking the loaves He gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds,
“If your hand or your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it from you; it is better for you to enter life crippled or lame, than to have two hands or two feet and be cast into the eternal fire.
If your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it from you. It is better for you to enter life with one eye, than to have two eyes and be cast into the fiery hell.
But if he does not listen to you, take one or two more with you, so that by the mouth of two or three witnesses every fact may be confirmed.
“Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven.
For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst.”
and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’?
So they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate.”
And He said to her, “What do you wish?” She *said to Him, “Command that in Your kingdom these two sons of mine may sit one on Your right and one on Your left.”
And hearing this, the ten became indignant with the two brothers.
And two blind men sitting by the road, hearing that Jesus was passing by, cried out, “Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!”
When they had approached Jerusalem and had come to Bethphage, at the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples,
“But what do you think? A man had two sons, and he came to the first and said, ‘Son, go work today in the vineyard.’
Which of the two did the will of his father?” They *said, “The first.” Jesus *said to them, “Truly I say to you that the tax collectors and prostitutes will get into the kingdom of God before you.
On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.”
Then there will be two men in the field; one will be taken and one will be left.
Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken and one will be left.
To one he gave five talents, to another, two, and to another, one, each according to his own ability; and he went on his journey.
In the same manner the one who had received the two talents gained two more.
“Also the one who had received the two talents came up and said, ‘Master, you entrusted two talents to me. See, I have gained two more talents.’
“You know that after two days the Passover is coming, and the Son of Man is to be handed over for crucifixion.”
And He took with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be grieved and distressed.
They did not find any, even though many false witnesses came forward. But later on two came forward,
But the governor said to them, “Which of the two do you want me to release for you?” And they said, “Barabbas.”
At that time two robbers *were crucified with Him, one on the right and one on the left.
And behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth shook and the rocks were split.
Jesus gave them permission. And coming out, the unclean spirits entered the swine; and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea, about two thousand of them; and they were drowned in the sea.
but to wear sandals; and He added, “Do not put on two tunics.”
But He answered them, “You give them something to eat!” And they *said to Him, “Shall we go and spend two hundred denarii on bread and give them something to eat?”
And He *said to them, “How many loaves do you have? Go look!” And when they found out, they *said, “Five, and two fish.”
And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up toward heaven, He blessed the food and broke the loaves and He kept giving them to the disciples to set before them; and He divided up the two fish among them all.
If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life crippled, than, having your two hands, to go into hell, into the unquenchable fire,
If your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life lame, than, having your two feet, to be cast into hell,
If your eye causes you to stumble, throw it out; it is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye, than, having two eyes, to be cast into hell,
and the two shall become one flesh; so they are no longer two, but one flesh.
James and John, the two sons of Zebedee, *came up to Jesus, saying, “Teacher, we want You to do for us whatever we ask of You.”

A poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which amount to a cent.
Now the Passover and Unleavened Bread were two days away; and the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how to seize Him by stealth and kill Him;

After that, He appeared in a different form to two of them while they were walking along on their way to the country.
and to offer a sacrifice according to what was said in the Law of the Lord, “A pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons.”
And he would answer and say to them, “The man who has two tunics is to share with him who has none; and he who has food is to do likewise.”
and He saw two boats lying at the edge of the lake; but the fishermen had gotten out of them and were washing their nets.
Summoning two of his disciples, John sent them to the Lord, saying, “Are You the Expected One, or do we look for someone else?”
“A moneylender had two debtors: one owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty.
And He said to them, “Take nothing for your journey, neither a staff, nor a bag, nor bread, nor money; and do not even have two tunics apiece.
But He said to them, “You give them something to eat!” And they said, “We have no more than five loaves and two fish, unless perhaps we go and buy food for all these people.”
Then He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed them, and broke them, and kept giving them to the disciples to set before the people.
And behold, two men were talking with Him; and they were Moses and Elijah,
Now Peter and his companions had been overcome with sleep; but when they were fully awake, they saw His glory and the two men standing with Him.
Now after this the Lord appointed seventy others, and sent them in pairs ahead of Him to every city and place where He Himself was going to come.
On the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper and said, ‘Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I return I will repay you.’

The two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.
One of the two who heard John speak and followed Him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother.
So when the Samaritans came to Jesus, they were asking Him to stay with them; and He stayed there two days.
After the two days He went forth from there into Galilee.
Philip answered Him, “Two hundred denarii worth of bread is not sufficient for them, for everyone to receive a little.”
“There is a lad here who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what are these for so many people?”
Even in your law it has been written that the testimony of two men is true.
So when He heard that he was sick, He then stayed two days longer in the place where He was.
