2 Now it will come about that In the last days The mountain of the house of the LORD Will be established as the chief of the mountains, And will be raised above the hills; And all the nations will stream to it.

2 And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD'S house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.

2 In the last days the mountain of the Lord's house will be established at the top of the mountains and will be raised above the hills. All nations will stream to it,

2 "It will come about in the last days that the mountain that is the LORD's Temple will be established as the highest of mountains, and will be raised above the hills; all the nations will stream to it.

2 It shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the Lord's house shall be [firmly] established as the highest of the mountains and shall be exalted above the hills, and all nations shall flow to it.

3 And many peoples will come and say, "Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, To the house of the God of Jacob; That He may teach us concerning His ways And that we may walk in His paths." For the law will go forth from Zion And the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

3 And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

3 and many peoples will come and say, "Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us about His ways so that we may walk in His paths." For instruction will go out of Zion and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.

3 Many groups of people will come, commenting, "Come! Let's go up to the Temple of the God of Jacob, that they may teach us his ways. Then let's walk in his paths." "Instruction will proceed from Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

3 And many people shall come and say, Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob, that He may teach us His ways and that we may walk in His paths. For out of Zion shall go forth the law and instruction, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.

4 And He will judge between the nations, And will render decisions for many peoples; And they will hammer their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks Nation will not lift up sword against nation, And never again will they learn war.

4 And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

4 He will settle disputes among the nations and provide arbitration for many peoples. They will turn their swords into plows and their spears into pruning knives. Nations will not take up the sword against [other] nations, and they will never again train for war.

4 He will judge between the nations, and will render verdicts for the benefit of many. "They will beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nations will not raise swords against nations, and they will not learn warfare anymore.

4 And He shall judge between the nations and shall decide [disputes] for many peoples; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

The Day Of Yahweh

5 Come, house of Jacob, and let us walk in the light of the LORD.

5 O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of the LORD.

5 House of Jacob, come and let us walk in the Lord's light.

5 "You house of Jacob! Come! Let's live in the LORD's light.

5 O house of Jacob, come, let us walk in the light of the Lord.

Israel's Sins

6 For You have abandoned Your people, the house of Jacob, Because they are filled with influences from the east, And they are soothsayers like the Philistines, And they strike bargains with the children of foreigners.

6 Therefore thou hast forsaken thy people the house of Jacob, because they be replenished from the east, and are soothsayers like the Philistines, and they please themselves in the children of strangers.

6 For You have abandoned Your people, the house of Jacob, because they are full of [divination] from the East and of fortune-tellers like the Philistines. They are in league with foreigners.

6 For you have rejected your people, the house of Jacob, because they are filled with practices learned from the East and they are fortune-tellers like the Philistines. They cut deals with foreigners.

6 Surely [Lord] You have rejected and forsaken your people, the house of Jacob, because they are filled [with customs] from the east and with soothsayers [who foretell] like the Philistines; also they strike hands and make pledges and agreements with the children of aliens.

7 Their land has also been filled with silver and gold And there is no end to their treasures; Their land has also been filled with horses And there is no end to their chariots.

7 Their land also is full of silver and gold, neither is there any end of their treasures; their land is also full of horses, neither is there any end of their chariots:

7 Their land is full of silver and gold, and there is no limit to their treasures; their land is full of horses, and there is no limit to their chariots.

7 Their land is filled with silver and gold, and there is no end to their treasures; their land is filled with horses, and there is no end to their chariots.

7 Their land also is full of silver and gold; neither is there any end to their treasures. Their land is also full of horses; neither is there any end to their chariots.

8 Their land has also been filled with idols; They worship the work of their hands, That which their fingers have made.

8 Their land also is full of idols; they worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made:

8 Their land is full of idols; they bow down to the work of their hands, to what their fingers have made.

8 Their land is filled with idols; they bow down to the work of their hands, to what their own fingers have made.

8 Their land also is full of idols; they worship the work of their own hands, what their own fingers have made.

9 So the common man has been humbled And the man of importance has been abased, But do not forgive them.

9 And the mean man boweth down, and the great man humbleth himself: therefore forgive them not.

9 So humanity is brought low, and man is humbled. Do not forgive them!

9 "So mankind is humbled, each human being is brought low, and you won't forgive."

9 And the common man is bowed down [before idols], also the great man is brought low and humbles himself -- "therefore forgive them not [O Lord].

10 Enter the rock and hide in the dust From the terror of the LORD and from the splendor of His majesty.

10 Enter into the rock, and hide thee in the dust, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty.

10 Go into the rocks and hide in the dust from the terror of the Lord and from His majestic splendor.

10 "Go into the rocks! Hide in the dust to escape the terror of the LORD and to escape the glory of his majesty!

10 Enter into the rock and hide yourself in the dust from before the terror of the Lord and from the glory of His majesty.

11 The proud look of man will be abased And the loftiness of man will be humbled, And the LORD alone will be exalted in that day.

11 The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.

11 Human pride will be humbled, and the loftiness of men will be brought low; the Lord alone will be exalted on that day.

11 The haughty looks of mankind will be brought low, the lofty pride of human beings will be humbled, and the LORD alone will be exalted at that time.

11 The proud looks of man shall be brought low, and the haughtiness of men shall be humbled; and the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day.

The Day Of The Lord's Judgment

12 For the LORD of hosts will have a day of reckoning Against everyone who is proud and lofty And against everyone who is lifted up, That he may be abased.

12 For the day of the LORD of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low:

12 For a day belonging to the Lord of Hosts is [coming] against all that is proud and lofty, against all that is lifted up-it will be humbled-

12 "For the LORD of the Heavenly Armies has reserved a time to oppose all who are proud and haughty, and the self-exalting they will be humbled.

12 For there shall be a day of the Lord of hosts against all who are proud and haughty and against all who are lifted up -- "and they shall be brought low -- "

13 And it will be against all the cedars of Lebanon that are lofty and lifted up, Against all the oaks of Bashan,

13 And upon all the cedars of Lebanon, that are high and lifted up, and upon all the oaks of Bashan,

13 against all the cedars of Lebanon, lofty and lifted up, against all the oaks of Bashan,

13 He will take his stand against all the cedars of Lebanon, against the proud and self-exalting; and against all the oaks of Bashan;

13 [The wrath of God will begin by coming down] against all the cedars of Lebanon [west of the Jordan] that are high and lifted up, and against all the oaks of Bashan [east of the Jordan],

14 Against all the lofty mountains, Against all the hills that are lifted up,

14 And upon all the high mountains, and upon all the hills that are lifted up,

14 against all the high mountains, against all the lofty hills,

14 against all the high mountains, and against all the lofty hills;

14 And [after that] against all the high mountains and all the hills that are lifted up,

15 Against every high tower, Against every fortified wall,

15 And upon every high tower, and upon every fenced wall,

15 against every high tower, against every fortified wall,

15 against every high tower, and against every fortified wall;

15 And against every high tower and every fenced wall,

16 Against all the ships of Tarshish And against all the beautiful craft.

16 And upon all the ships of Tarshish, and upon all pleasant pictures.

16 against every ship of Tarshish, and against every splendid sea vessel.

16 against all the ships from Tarshish, and against all their impressive watercraft.

16 And against all the ships of Tarshish and all the picturesque and desirable imagery [designed for mere ornament and luxury].

17 The pride of man will be humbled And the loftiness of men will be abased; And the LORD alone will be exalted in that day,

17 And the loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be made low: and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.

17 So human pride will be brought low, and the loftiness of men will be humbled; the Lord alone will be exalted on that day.

17 "Humanity's haughtiness will be humbled, male arrogance will be brought low, and the LORD alone will be exalted in that day.

17 Then the loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be brought low; and the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day.

18 But the idols will completely vanish.

18 And the idols he shall utterly abolish.

18 The idols will vanish completely.

18 Their idols will utterly vanish.

18 And the idols shall utterly pass away (be abolished).

19 Men will go into caves of the rocks And into holes of the ground Before the terror of the LORD And the splendor of His majesty, When He arises to make the earth tremble.

19 And they shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth.

19 People will go into caves in the rocks and holes in the ground, away from the terror of the Lord and from His majestic splendor, when He rises to terrify the earth.

19 "They will enter caverns in the rocks and holes in the ground to escape the presence of the terror of the LORD, to escape the splendor of his majesty when he arises to terrify the earth.

19 Then shall [the stricken, deprived of all in which they had trusted] go into the caves of the rocks and into the holes of the earth from before the terror and dread of the Lord and from before the glory of His majesty, when He arises to shake mightily and terribly the earth.

20 In that day men will cast away to the moles and the bats Their idols of silver and their idols of gold, Which they made for themselves to worship,

20 In that day a man shall cast his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which they made each one for himself to worship, to the moles and to the bats;

20 On that day people will throw their silver and gold idols, which they made to worship, to the moles and the bats.

20 At that time, mankind will throw their silver and gold idols that their fingers have made as objects of worship to the moles and to the bats.

20 In that day men shall cast away to the moles and to the bats their idols of silver and their idols of gold, which they made for themselves to worship,

21 In order to go into the caverns of the rocks and the clefts of the cliffs Before the terror of the LORD and the splendor of His majesty, When He arises to make the earth tremble.

21 To go into the clefts of the rocks, and into the tops of the ragged rocks, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth.

21 They will go into the caves of the rocks and the crevices in the cliffs, away from the terror of the Lord and from His majestic splendor, when He rises to terrify the earth.

21 They will enter caverns in the rocks and clefts in the cliffs, to escape the terror of the LORD and to escape the splendor of his majesty, when he arises to terrorize the earth.

21 To go into the caverns of the rocks and into the clefts of the ragged rocks from before the terror and dread of the Lord and from before the glory of His majesty, when He rises to shake mightily and terribly the earth.

22 Stop regarding man, whose breath of life is in his nostrils; For why should he be esteemed?

22 Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils: for wherein is he to be accounted of?

22 Put no more trust in man, who has only the breath in his nostrils. What is he really worth?

22 "Stop trusting in human beings, whose life breath is in their nostrils, for what are they really worth?"

22 Cease to trust in [weak, frail, and dying] man, whose breath is in his nostrils [for so short a time]; in what sense can he be counted as having intrinsic worth?
