The Allotment Of Ephraim And Manasseh

1 The territorial allotment for the descendants of Joseph proceeded from the Jordan River by Jericho eastward of the Jericho waters into the wilderness, proceeding from Jericho through the hill country of Bethel

1 Then the lot for the sons of Joseph went from the Jordan at Jericho to the waters of Jericho on the east into (A)the wilderness, going up from Jericho through the hill country to Bethel.

1 And the lot of the children of Joseph fell from Jordan by Jericho, unto the water of Jericho on the east, to the wilderness that goeth up from Jericho throughout mount Bethel,

1 The allotment for the descendants of Joseph(a) went from the Jordan at Jericho to the waters of Jericho on the east, through the wilderness(A) ascending from Jericho into the hill country of Bethel.

1 Then the lot (allotment) for the sons of Joseph went from the Jordan Valley at Jericho to the waters of Jericho on the east into the wilderness, going up from Jericho through the hill country to Bethel.

2 and from Bethel to Luz, continuing to the border of the Archites at Ataroth.

2 It went from Bethel to Luz, and (B)continued to the border of the Archites at Ataroth.

2 And goeth out from Bethel to Luz, and passeth along unto the borders of Archi to Ataroth,

2 From Bethel it went to Luz and proceeded to the border of the Archites by Ataroth.(B)

2 Then it went from Bethel to Luz, and continued to Ataroth, the border of the Archites.

3 It proceeded westward to the territory of the Japhletites as far as the territory of lower Beth-horon, then toward Gezer, ending at the Mediterranean Sea.

3 It went down westward to the territory of the Japhletites, as far as the territory of lower (C)Beth-horon even to (D)Gezer, and (a)it ended at the sea.

3 And goeth down westward to the coast of Japhleti, unto the coast of Bethhoron the nether, and to Gezer: and the goings out thereof are at the sea.

3 It then descended westward to the border of the Japhletites as far as the border of lower Beth-horon, then to Gezer,(C) and ended at the Mediterranean Sea.

3 It went down westward to the territory of the Japhletites, as far as the outskirts of lower Beth-horon, then to Gezer, and it ended at the sea.

4 Manasseh and Ephraim, the descendants of Joseph, received their inheritance.

4 The (E)sons of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, received their inheritance.

4 So the children of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, took their inheritance.

4 So Ephraim and Manasseh, the sons of Joseph,(D) received their inheritance.(E)

4 The sons of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, received their inheritance.

Ephraim's Inheritance

5 This was the territory allocated to the descendants of Ephraim according to their families: the border of their inheritance on the east was Ataroth-addar as far as upper Beth-horon.

5 Now this was the territory of the sons of Ephraim according to their families: the border of their inheritance eastward was (F)Ataroth-addar, as far as upper Beth-horon.

5 And the border of the children of Ephraim according to their families was thus: even the border of their inheritance on the east side was Atarothaddar, unto Bethhoron the upper;

5 This was the territory of the descendants of Ephraim by their clans:The border of their inheritance went from Ataroth-addar(F) on the east of Upper Beth-horon.

5 Now this was the territory of the sons of Ephraim according to their families: on the east side the border of their inheritance was Ataroth-addar, as far as upper Beth-horon.

6 Then the border proceeded west from Michmethath on the north, then turned east toward Taanath-shiloh, continuing to the east of Janoah.

6 Then the border went westward at (G)Michmethath on the north, and the border turned about eastward to Taanath-shiloh and continued beyond it to the east of Janoah.

6 And the border went out toward the sea to Michmethah on the north side; and the border went about eastward unto Taanathshiloh, and passed by it on the east to Janohah;

6 In the north the border went westward from Michmethath;(G) it turned eastward from Taanath-shiloh and passed it east of Janoah.

6 Then the border went westward at Michmethath on the north, and turned eastward to Taanath-shiloh and continued beyond it to the east of Janoah.

7 It proceeded from Janoah to Ataroth, then to Naarah, then proceeded to Jericho and ended at the Jordan River.

7 It went down from Janoah to Ataroth and to (H)Naarah, then reached Jericho and came out at the Jordan.

7 And it went down from Janohah to Ataroth, and to Naarath, and came to Jericho, and went out at Jordan.

7 From Janoah it descended to Ataroth and Naarah,(H) and then reached Jericho and went to the Jordan.

7 It went down from Janoah to Ataroth and to Naarah, touched Jericho and ended at the Jordan.

8 From Tappuach, the border proceeded west to the Kanah brook, ending at the Mediterranean Sea. This is the inheritance of the tribe of the descendants of Ephraim according to their families,

8 From (I)Tappuah the border continued westward to the (b)brook of Kanah, and (c)it ended at the sea. This is the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Ephraim according to their families,

8 The border went out from Tappuah westward unto the river Kanah; and the goings out thereof were at the sea. This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Ephraim by their families.

8 From Tappuah the border(b) went westward along the Brook of Kanah and ended at the Mediterranean Sea.(I)This was the inheritance of the tribe of the descendants of Ephraim by their clans, together with

8 The border continued from Tappuah westward to the Brook Kanah, and it ended at the [Mediterranean] sea. This is the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Ephraim according to their families (clans),

9 along with the cities that had been set aside for the descendants of Ephraim within the allotment of the descendants of Manasseh, including all of the cities and villages.

9 together with the cities which were set apart for the sons of Ephraim in the midst of the inheritance of the sons of Manasseh, all the cities with their villages.

9 And the separate cities for the children of Ephraim were among the inheritance of the children of Manasseh, all the cities with their villages.

9 the cities set apart for the descendants of Ephraim within the inheritance of the descendants of Manasseh—all these cities with their villages.

9 with the cities which were set apart for the sons of Ephraim within the inheritance of the sons of Manasseh, all the cities with their villages.

10 However, they did not drive out the Canaanites who lived in Gezer, so the Canaanites live within the territory of Ephraim to this day, but they serve as forced laborers.

10 (J)But they did not (d)drive out the Canaanites who lived in Gezer, so (K)the Canaanites live in the midst of Ephraim to this day, and they became forced laborers.

10 And they drave not out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer: but the Canaanites dwell among the Ephraimites unto this day, and serve under tribute.

10 But, they did not drive out the Canaanites who lived in Gezer.(J) So the Canaanites live in Ephraim to this day,(K) but they are forced laborers.
