Jesus Is Raised

1 When the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James, and Salome brought spices in order to go and anoint him.

1 (A)When the Sabbath was over, (B)Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of (a)James, and Salome, (C)bought spices, so that they might come and anoint Him.

1 And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.

1 When(A) the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene,(B) Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, so they could go and anoint Him.

1 When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices to go and anoint Jesus.

2 And very early in the morning, on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb as the sun was rising;

2 Very early on the first day of the week, they *came to the tomb when the sun had risen.

2 And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun.

2 Very early in the morning, on the first day of the week,(C) they went to the tomb(D) at sunrise.

2 Very early on the first day of the week, when the sun had just come up, they were going to the tomb.

3 and they kept saying to one another, "Who will roll away the stone for us from the door of the tomb?"

3 They were saying to one another, “Who will roll away (D)the stone for us from the entrance of the tomb?”

3 And they said among themselves, Who shall roll us away the stone from the door of the sepulchre?

3 They were saying to one another, “Who will roll away the stone from the entrance to the tomb for us?”

3 They kept saying to one another, "Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?"

4 But then as they looked up they saw that the stone, which was a very large one, was already rolled away;

4 Looking up, they *saw that the stone had been rolled away, (b)although it was extremely large.

4 And when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away: for it was very great.

4 Looking up, they observed that the stone—which was very large—had been rolled away.

4 Then they looked up and saw that the stone had been rolled away. (It was a very large stone.)

5 and upon entering the tomb they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a white robe.

5 (E)Entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting at the right, wearing a white robe; and they (F)were amazed.

5 And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were affrighted.

5 When(E) they entered the tomb,(F) they saw a young man(a)(G) dressed(H) in a long white(I) robe sitting on the right side; they were amazed and alarmed.

5 As they went into the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were utterly astonished.

6 They were terrified, but he said to them. "Do not be terrified! You are seeking Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified? He is risen; he is not here. See, the place where they laid him!

6 And he *said to them, “(G)Do not be amazed; you are looking for Jesus the (H)Nazarene, who has been crucified. (I)He has risen; He is not here; behold, here is the place where they laid Him.

6 And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.

6 “Don’t be alarmed,” he told them. “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene,(J) who was crucified. He has been resurrected!(K) He is not here! See the place where they put Him.

6 But he told them, "Stop being astonished! You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has been raised. He is not here. Look at the place where they laid him.

7 But go, tell his disciples and Peter, "'He is going before you into Galilee, where you will see him, as he told you.'"

7 But go, tell His disciples and Peter, ‘(J)He is going ahead of you to Galilee; there you will see Him, just as He told you.’”

7 But go your way, tell his disciples and Peter that he goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see him, as he said unto you.

7 But go, tell His disciples and Peter,(L) ‘He is going ahead of you to Galilee;(M) you will see Him there just as He told you.’”

7 But go and tell his disciples especially Peter that Jesus is going ahead of you to Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you."

8 So they went out, and ran from the tomb, for they were trembling and amazed; and they said nothing to any one, for they were afraid??9 Now after his resurrection, early on the first day of the week he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, from whom he had driven out seven demons.

8 They went out and fled from the tomb, for trembling and astonishment had gripped them; and they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.

8 And they went out quickly, and fled from the sepulchre; for they trembled and were amazed: neither said they any thing to any man; for they were afraid.

8 So they went out and started running from the tomb,(N) because trembling and astonishment overwhelmed them. And they said nothing to anyone,(O) since they were afraid.

8 So they left the tomb and ran away, overwhelmed by shock and astonishment. They didn't say a thing to anyone, because they were afraid.

9 She went and told those who had been with him, as they mourned and wept.

9 [(c)Now after He had risen early on the first day of the week, He first appeared to (K)Mary Magdalene, from whom He had cast out seven demons.

9 Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils.

9 [Early(P) on the first day of the week,(Q) after He had risen,(R) He appeared first to Mary Magdalene,(S) out of whom He had driven seven demons.(T)

9 After Jesus had risen early on the first day of that week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, from whom he had driven out seven demons.

10 But they, although they heard that he was living and had been seen by her did not believe it.

10 (L)She went and reported to those who had been with Him, while they were mourning and weeping.

10 And she went and told them that had been with him, as they mourned and wept.

10 She went and reported to those who had been with Him, as they were mourning and weeping.

10 She went and told those who had been with Jesus and who now were grieving and crying.

Jesus Appears To Two Disciples

11 After this he appeared in another form to two of them as they were walking on their way into the country.

11 When they heard that He was alive and had been seen by her, (M)they refused to believe it.

11 And they, when they had heard that he was alive, and had been seen of her, believed not.

11 Yet, when they heard that He was alive and had been seen by her, they did not believe it.(U)

11 When they heard that he was alive and that he had been seen by her, they refused to believe Mary.

12 They too went, and told the others; but they did not believe them, either.

12 After that, (N)He appeared in a different form (O)to two of them while they were walking along on their way to the country.

12 After that he appeared in another form unto two of them, as they walked, and went into the country.

12 Then after this, He appeared(V) in a different form to two of them walking on their way into the country.(W)

12 After this, Jesus appeared in a different form to two disciples as they were walking into the country.

Jesus Talks To The Apostles

13 Afterward he appeared to the Eleven themselves, as they were eating, and reproached them for their lack of faith, and stubborn hearts, because they disbelieved those who had seen him risen.

13 They went away and reported it to the others, but they (P)did not believe them either.

13 And they went and told it unto the residue: neither believed they them.

13 And they went and reported it to the rest, who did not believe them either.

13 They went back and told the others, who didn't believe them, either.

14 And he said to them. "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to the whole creation.

14 Afterward (Q)He appeared (R)to the eleven themselves as they were reclining at the table; and He reproached them for their (S)unbelief and hardness of heart, because they had not believed those who had seen Him after He had risen.

14 Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen.

14 Later, He appeared to the Eleven(X) themselves as they were reclining at the table. He rebuked their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who saw Him after He had been resurrected.(Y)

14 Finally he appeared to his eleven disciples while they were eating. He rebuked them for their unbelief and stubbornness, because they had not believed those who had seen him after he had risen.

15 He who believes and is baptized shall be saved, but he who disbelieves shall be condemned.

15 And He said to them, (T)Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.

15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

15 Then(Z) He said to them, “Go into all the world(AA) and preach the gospel to the whole creation.(AB)

15 Then he told them, "As you go into the entire world, proclaim the gospel to everyone.

16 Moreover these signs shall follow those who believe. They shall drive out demons in my name; they shall speak with new tongues in foreign languages;

16 (U)He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned.

16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

16 Whoever believes(AC) and is baptized will be saved,(AD) but whoever does not believe will be condemned.(AE)

16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever doesn't believe will be condemned.

17 they shall pick up serpents, and if they drink any poison it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover."

17 These (d)signs will accompany those who have believed: (V)in My name they will cast out demons, they will (W)speak with new tongues;

17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: In My name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new languages;

17 These are the signs that will accompany those who believe: In my name they'll drive out demons, they'll speak in new languages,

18 So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God.

18 they will (X)pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will (Y)lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

18 they will pick up snakes;(b)(AF) if they should drink anything deadly, it will never harm(AG) them; they will lay hands on(AH) the sick, and they will get well.”

18 and they'll pick up snakes with their hands.Even if they drink any deadly poison, it won't hurt them, and they'll place their hands on the sick, and they'll recover."

19 But they went forth and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirming the message by the miracles which followed.

19 So then, when the Lord Jesus had (Z)spoken to them, He (AA)was received up into heaven and (AB)sat down at the right hand of God.

19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.

19 Then after speaking to them, the Lord Jesus(AI) was taken up into heaven(AJ) and sat down at the right hand(AK) of God.

19 So the Lord Jesus, after talking with his disciples, was taken up to heaven and sat down at the right hand of God.
