And when they had bound him, they led him away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor.
Now Jesus stood before [Pilate] the governor, and the governor asked Him, “Are you the King of the Jews?” [In affirmation] Jesus said to him,
Then said Pilate unto him, Hearest thou not how many things they witness against thee?
But, to Pilate's great astonishment, he would not answer him a single word.
Therefore when they were gathered together, Pilate said unto them, Whom will ye that I release unto you? Barabbas, or Jesus which is called Christ?
Then while he was seated in Pilate's courtroom of justice, Pilate's wife sent [word] to him, saying, "You should have nothing to do with that innocent man. For I was very troubled in a dream over him today." [Note: That is, she was troubled over a dream she had before waking up that morning].
So when Pilate said to them, "Which of the two do you want me to release unto you?" they said, "Barabbas."
Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? They all say unto him, Let him be crucified.
"Why, what crime has he committed?" asked Pilate. But they kept on furiously shouting, "Let him be crucified!"
When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it.
The Pilate released Barabbas to them; but Jesus he scourged, and gave him up to be crucified.
Then the governor's soldiers took Jesus to Pilate's headquarters and assembled the entire company [i.e., about men] in front of Him.
And in the evening, there came a rich man of Arimathea, whose name was Joseph, who also himself was a disciple of Jesus, and went to Pilate,
He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered.
Now the next day, that followed the day of the preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate,
Pilate said unto them, Ye have a watch: go your way, make it as sure as ye can.

And they said, Barabbas. Pilate saith to them, What then shall I do with Jesus, who is called Christ? They all say, Let him be crucified. And he said, Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified. And when Pilate saw that it availed nothing, but that rather a tumult was arising, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of this blood; see ye to it. And all the people answering said, His blood be on us, and on our children. Then he released Barabbas to them, and having scourged Jesus, he delivered him up to be crucified.
I will therefore chastise, and release him. Now it was necessary for him to release to them one at the feast. And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this man, and release to us Barabbas; who, for a certain sedition made in the city, and for murder, had been cast into prison. But Pilate again spoke to them, wishing to release Jesus. But they cried out, saying, Crucify, crucify him! And he said to them the third time, Why, what evil hath this man done? I have found him guilty of nothing deserving death; I will therefore chastise, and release him. But they were urgent with loud voices, demanding that he should he crucified; and their voices prevailed. And Pilate gave sentence that what they demanded should be done.
and went again into the palace, and saith to Jesus, Whence art thou? But Jesus gave him no answer. Pilate saith to him, Dost thou not speak to me? Dost thou not know that I have power to release thee, and have power to crucify thee? Jesus answered, Thou wouldst have no power against me, unless it had been given thee from above; for this cause he that delivered me up to thee hath the greater sin. From this time Pilate sought to release him. But the Jews cried out, saying, If thou release this man, thou art not a friend of Caesar. Every one that maketh himself a king, setteth himself against Caesar. When therefore Pilate heard these words, he brought Jesus forth, and sat down on the judgmentseat, in a place called the Pavement, but in Hebrew, Gabbatha.
