And when they had bound him, they led him away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor.
Now Jesus stood before [Pilate] the governor, and the governor asked Him, “Are you the King of the Jews?” [In affirmation] Jesus said to him,
Then said Pilate unto him, Hearest thou not how many things they witness against thee?
But, to Pilate's great astonishment, he would not answer him a single word.
Therefore when they were gathered together, Pilate said unto them, Whom will ye that I release unto you? Barabbas, or Jesus which is called Christ?
Then while he was seated in Pilate's courtroom of justice, Pilate's wife sent [word] to him, saying, "You should have nothing to do with that innocent man. For I was very troubled in a dream over him today." [Note: That is, she was troubled over a dream she had before waking up that morning].
So when Pilate said to them, "Which of the two do you want me to release unto you?" they said, "Barabbas."
Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? They all say unto him, Let him be crucified.
"Why, what crime has he committed?" asked Pilate. But they kept on furiously shouting, "Let him be crucified!"
When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it.
The Pilate released Barabbas to them; but Jesus he scourged, and gave him up to be crucified.
Then the governor's soldiers took Jesus to Pilate's headquarters and assembled the entire company [i.e., about men] in front of Him.
And in the evening, there came a rich man of Arimathea, whose name was Joseph, who also himself was a disciple of Jesus, and went to Pilate,
He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered.
Now the next day, that followed the day of the preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate,
Pilate said unto them, Ye have a watch: go your way, make it as sure as ye can.

Then the deputy answered and said unto them, "Whether of the twain will ye that I let loose unto you?" And they said, "Barabbas." Pilate said unto them, "What shall I do then with Jesus, which is called Christ?" They all said to him, "Let him be crucified." Then said the deputy, "What evil hath he done?" And they cried the more saying, "Let him be crucified." When Pilate saw that he prevailed nothing, but that more business was made, he took water and washed his hands before the people saying, "I am innocent of the blood of this righteous person: see ye thereto." Then answered all the people, and said, "His blood be on us, and on our children." Then let he Barabbas loose unto them, and scourged Jesus, and delivered him to be crucified.
I will therefore chasten him, and let him loose." For of necessity, he must have let one loose unto them at that feast. And all the people cried at once, saying, "Away with him, and deliver to us Barabbas: which for insurrection made in the city, and murder, was cast into prison." Pilate spake again to them, willing to let Jesus loose. And they cried, saying, "Crucify him; Crucify him." He said unto them the third time, "What evil hath he done? I find no cause of death in him. I will therefore chasten him, and let him go loose." And they cried with loud voice, and required that he might be crucified. And the voice of them and of the high priests prevailed. And Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they required,
and went again into the judgment hall, and said unto Jesus, "Whence art thou?" But Jesus gave him none answer. Then said Pilate unto him, "Speakest thou not unto me? Knowest thou not that I have power to crucify thee, and have power to loose thee?" Jesus answered, "Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given unto thee from above. Therefore he that delivered me unto thee, is more in sin." And from thenceforth sought Pilate means to loose him: but the Jews cried, saying, "If thou let him go, thou art not Caesar's friend. For whosoever maketh himself a King, is against Caesar." When Pilate heard that saying, he brought Jesus forth, and sat down to give sentence, in a place called the pavement: But in the Hebrew tongue, Gabbatha.
