'It is Written' in the Bible

But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.’”

and *said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down; for it is written,‘He will command His angels concerning You’;and‘On their hands they will bear You up,So that You will not strike Your foot against a stone.’”

Jesus said to him, “On the other hand, it is written, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’”

Then Jesus *said to him, “Go, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only.’”

This is the one about whom it is written,‘Behold, I send My messenger ahead of You,Who will prepare Your way before You.’

And He *said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer’; but you are making it a robbers’ den.”

The Son of Man is to go, just as it is written of Him; but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had not been born.”

Then Jesus *said to them, “You will all fall away because of Me this night, for it is written, ‘I will strike down the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered.’

As it is written in Isaiah the prophet:“Behold, I send My messenger ahead of You,Who will prepare Your way;

And He said to them, “Rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written:‘This people honors Me with their lips,But their heart is far away from Me.

But I say to you that Elijah has indeed come, and they did to him whatever they wished, just as it is written of him.”

For the wisdom of this world is foolishness before God. For it is written, “He is the one who catches the wise in their craftiness”;

For it is written in the Law of Moses, “You shall not muzzle the ox while he is threshing.” God is not concerned about oxen, is He?

Do not be idolaters, as some of them were; as it is written, “The people sat down to eat and drink, and stood up to play.”

In the Law it is written, “By men of strange tongues and by the lips of strangers I will speak to this people, and even so they will not listen to Me,” says the Lord.

So also it is written, “The first man, Adam, became a living soul.” The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.

as it is written, “He who gathered much did not have too much, and he who gathered little had no lack.”

as it is written,“He scattered abroad, he gave to the poor,His righteousness endures forever.”

For as many as are of the works of the Law are under a curse; for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who does not abide by all things written in the book of the law, to perform them.”

Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”—

For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the bondwoman and one by the free woman.

For it is written,“Rejoice, barren woman who does not bear;Break forth and shout, you who are not in labor;For more numerous are the children of the desolateThan of the one who has a husband.”

“Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come(In the scroll of the book it is written of Me)To do Your will, O God.’”

because it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”
