When they had seen this, they made known the statement which had been told them about this Child.

The shepherds went back, glorifying and praising God for all that they had heard and seen, just as had been told them.

And when the days for their purification according to the law of Moses were completed, they brought Him up to Jerusalem to present Him to the Lord

When they had performed everything according to the Law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, to their own city of Nazareth.

And when He became twelve, they went up there according to the custom of the Feast;

and as they were returning, after spending the full number of days, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem. But His parents were unaware of it,

but supposed Him to be in the caravan, and went a day’s journey; and they began looking for Him among their relatives and acquaintances.

When they did not find Him, they returned to Jerusalem looking for Him.

Then, after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions.

When they saw Him, they were astonished; and His mother said to Him, “Son, why have You treated us this way? Behold, Your father and I have been anxiously looking for You.”

But they did not understand the statement which He had made to them.

And some tax collectors also came to be baptized, and they said to him, “Teacher, what shall we do?”

and,
On their hands they will bear You up,
So that You will not strike Your foot against a stone.’”

And all were speaking well of Him, and wondering at the gracious words which were falling from His lips; and they were saying, “Is this not Joseph’s son?”

and they got up and drove Him out of the city, and led Him to the brow of the hill on which their city had been built, in order to throw Him down the cliff.

And amazement came upon them all, and they began talking with one another saying, “What is this message? For with authority and power He commands the unclean spirits and they come out.”

Then He got up and left the synagogue, and entered Simon’s home. Now Simon’s mother-in-law was suffering from a high fever, and they asked Him to help her.

Demons also were coming out of many, shouting, “You are the Son of God!” But rebuking them, He would not allow them to speak, because they knew Him to be the Christ.

When they had done this, they enclosed a great quantity of fish, and their nets began to break;

so they signaled to their partners in the other boat for them to come and help them. And they came and filled both of the boats, so that they began to sink.

For amazement had seized him and all his companions because of the catch of fish which they had taken;

When they had brought their boats to land, they left everything and followed Him.

And some men were carrying on a bed a man who was paralyzed; and they were trying to bring him in and to set him down in front of Him.

But not finding any way to bring him in because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and let him down through the tiles with his stretcher, into the middle of the crowd, in front of Jesus.

They were all struck with astonishment and began glorifying God; and they were filled with fear, saying, “We have seen remarkable things today.”

And they said to Him, “The disciples of John often fast and offer prayers, the disciples of the Pharisees also do the same, but Yours eat and drink.”

But the days will come; and when the bridegroom is taken away from them, then they will fast in those days.”

But He knew what they were thinking, and He said to the man with the withered hand, “Get up and come forward!” And he got up and came forward.

And He also spoke a parable to them: A blind man cannot guide a blind man, can he? Will they not both fall into a pit?

For each tree is known by its own fruit. For men do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they pick grapes from a briar bush.

When they came to Jesus, they earnestly implored Him, saying, “He is worthy for You to grant this to him;

When those who had been sent returned to the house, they found the slave in good health.

Fear gripped them all, and they began glorifying God, saying, “A great prophet has arisen among us!” and, “God has visited His people!”

When the men came to Him, they said, “John the Baptist has sent us to You, to ask, ‘Are You the Expected One, or do we look for someone else?’”

When all the people and the tax collectors heard this, they acknowledged God’s justice, having been baptized with the baptism of John.

“To what then shall I compare the men of this generation, and what are they like?

They are like children who sit in the market place and call to one another, and they say, ‘We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not weep.’

When they were unable to repay, he graciously forgave them both. So which of them will love him more?”

Those on the rocky soil are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no firm root; they believe for a while, and in time of temptation fall away.

And His mother and brothers came to Him, and they were unable to get to Him because of the crowd.

Now on one of those days Jesus and His disciples got into a boat, and He said to them, “Let us go over to the other side of the lake.” So they launched out.

But as they were sailing along He fell asleep; and a fierce gale of wind descended on the lake, and they began to be swamped and to be in danger.

They came to Jesus and woke Him up, saying, “Master, Master, we are perishing!” And He got up and rebuked the wind and the surging waves, and they stopped, and it became calm.

And He said to them, “Where is your faith?” They were fearful and amazed, saying to one another, “Who then is this, that He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey Him?”

Then they sailed to the country of the Gerasenes, which is opposite Galilee.

They were imploring Him not to command them to go away into the abyss.

When the herdsmen saw what had happened, they ran away and reported it in the city and out in the country.

The people went out to see what had happened; and they came to Jesus, and found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting down at the feet of Jesus, clothed and in his right mind; and they became frightened.

And all the people of the country of the Gerasenes and the surrounding district asked Him to leave them, for they were gripped with great fear; and He got into a boat and returned.

And as Jesus returned, the people welcomed Him, for they had all been waiting for Him.

And Jesus said, “Who is the one who touched Me?” And while they were all denying it, Peter said, “Master, the people are crowding and pressing in on You.”

Now they were all weeping and lamenting for her; but He said, “Stop weeping, for she has not died, but is asleep.”

Departing, they began going throughout the villages, preaching the gospel and healing everywhere.

When the apostles returned, they gave an account to Him of all that they had done. Taking them with Him, He withdrew by Himself to a city called Bethsaida.

Now the day was ending, and the twelve came and said to Him, “Send the crowd away, that they may go into the surrounding villages and countryside and find lodging and get something to eat; for here we are in a desolate place.”

But He said to them, “You give them something to eat!” And they said, “We have no more than five loaves and two fish, unless perhaps we go and buy food for all these people.”

They did so, and had them all sit down.

And they all ate and were satisfied; and the broken pieces which they had left over were picked up, twelve baskets full.

They answered and said, “John the Baptist, and others say Elijah; but others, that one of the prophets of old has risen again.”

But I say to you truthfully, there are some of those standing here who will not taste death until they see the kingdom of God.”

Now Peter and his companions had been overcome with sleep; but when they were fully awake, they saw His glory and the two men standing with Him.

While he was saying this, a cloud formed and began to overshadow them; and they were afraid as they entered the cloud.

And when the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone. And they kept silent, and reported to no one in those days any of the things which they had seen.

On the next day, when they came down from the mountain, a large crowd met Him.

And they were all amazed at the greatness of God.But while everyone was marveling at all that He was doing, He said to His disciples,

But they did not understand this statement, and it was concealed from them so that they would not perceive it; and they were afraid to ask Him about this statement.

But Jesus, knowing what they were thinking in their heart, took a child and stood him by His side,

and He sent messengers on ahead of Him, and they went and entered a village of the Samaritans to make arrangements for Him.

But they did not receive Him, because He was traveling toward Jerusalem.

When His disciples James and John saw this, they said, “Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them?”

for the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them.”] And they went on to another village.

As they were going along the road, someone said to Him, “I will follow You wherever You go.”

But whatever city you enter and they do not receive you, go out into its streets and say,

Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles had been performed in Tyre and Sidon which occurred in you, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.
