The wine gave out, and Jesus' mother said to him, "They have no more wine!"

Jesus said to her, "Do not try to direct me. It is not yet time for me to act."

His mother said to the servants, "Do whatever he tells you."

So they filled them full. And he said to them, "Now draw some out and take it to the master of the feast."

And they did so. When the master of the feast tasted the water which had now turned into wine, without knowing where it had come from??hough the servants who had drawn the water knew??10 he called the bridegroom and said to him, "Everyone else serves his good wine first, and his poorer wine after people have drunk deeply, but you have kept back your good wine till now!"

And he said to the pigeon-dealers, "Take these things away! Do not turn my Father's house into a market!"

Then the Jews addressed him and said, "What sign have you to show us, for acting in this way?"

The Jews said, "It has taken forty-six years to build this sanctuary, and are you going to raise it in three days?"

So afterward when he had risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believed the passage of Scripture and what Jesus had said.

This man went to Jesus one night, and said to him, "Master, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God, for no one can show the signs that you do, unless God is with him."

Nicodemus said to him, "How can that be?"

And they went to John and said to him, "Master, the man who was with you across the Jordan, and to whom you yourself gave testimony, is baptizing, and everybody is going to him."

A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, "Give me a drink."

So the Samaritan woman said to him, "How is it that a Jew like you asks a Samaritan woman like me for a drink?" For Jews have nothing to do with Samaritans.

She said to him, "You have nothing to draw water with, sir, and the well is deep. Where can you get your living water?

The woman said to him, "Give me this water, sir, so that I may never be thirsty, nor have to come all this way to draw water."

He said to her, "Go and call your husband and come back here."

Jesus said to her, "Believe me, the time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor at Jerusalem.

The woman said to him, "I know that the Messiah is coming??e who is called the Christ. When he comes, he will tell us everything!"

So the woman left her pitcher and went back to the town, and said to the people,

So the disciples said to one another, "Do you suppose that someone has brought him something to eat?"

Many of the Samaritans in that town came to believe in him because of the testimony the woman gave when she said, "He has told me everything I ever did!"

The official said to him, "Come down, sir, before my child is dead!"

Jesus said to him, "You can go home. Your son is going to live." The man believed what Jesus said to him and went home.

So he asked them at what time he had begun to get better, and they said to him, "Yesterday at one o'clock the fever left him."

So the father knew that it was the very time when Jesus had said to him "Your son is going to live." And he and his whole household believed in Jesus.

Jesus saw him lying there, and finding that he had been in this condition for a long time, said to him, "Do you want to get well?"

Now it was the Sabbath. So the Jews said to the man who had been cured, "It is the Sabbath, and it is against the Law for you to carry your mat."

But he answered, "The man who cured me said to me, 'Pick up your mat and walk.' "

They asked him, "Who was it that said to you, 'Pick it up and walk'?"

Afterward Jesus found him in the Temple, and said to him, "See! You are well again. Give up sin, or something worse may happen to you."

So Jesus, raising his eyes and seeing that a great crowd was coming up to him, said to Philip, "Where can we buy food for these people to eat?"

Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, another of his disciples, said to him,

Jesus said, "Make the people sit down." There was plenty of grass there, so the men threw themselves down, about five thousand of them.

When they were satisfied, he said to his disciples, "Pick up the pieces that are left, so that nothing may be wasted."

When the people saw the signs that he showed, they said, "This is really the Prophet who was to come into the world!"

And when they had crossed the sea and found him, they said to him, "When did you get here, Master?"

Then they said to him, "Then what sign do you show for us to see and so come to believe you? What work are you doing?

Then they said to him, "Give us that bread always, sir!"

and they said, "Is he not Joseph's son, Jesus, whose father and mother we know? How can he now say, 'I have come down out of heaven'?"

This led the Jews to dispute with one another. They said, "How can he give us his flesh to eat?"

Jesus said all this while he was teaching in the synagogue at Capernaum.

But Jesus, knowing that his disciples were complaining about this, said to them, "Does this stagger you?

And he added, "This is why I said to you, 'No one can come to me unless he is enabled to do so by the Father.' "

So his brothers said to him, "You ought to leave here and go to Judea, to let your disciples also see the things you are doing.

Then Jesus said to them, "It is not yet time for me to act, but any time is suitable for you.

This astonished the Jews. "How is it that this man can read?" they said, "when he has never gone to school?"

Some of the people of Jerusalem said, "Is not this the man they want to kill?

But many of the people believed in him, and said, "Will the Christ show more signs when he comes than this man has shown?"

Then the Jews said to one another, "Where is he going, that we shall not find him? Is he going to our people scattered among the Greeks, and will he teach the Greeks?

So some of the people, when they heard these words, said, "This is certainly the Prophet!"

Others said, "This is the Christ!" But they rejoined, "What! Is the Christ to come from Galilee?

The attendants went back to the high priests and Pharisees, and they said to the attendants, "Why have you not brought him?"

He said these things in the treasury, as he was teaching in the Temple, and no one arrested him, because he was not yet ready.

Then he said to them again, "I am going away, and you will look for me, but you will die in the midst of your sin. You cannot come where I am going."

So the Jews said, "Is he going to kill himself, and is that why he says, 'You cannot come where I am going'?"

He said to them, "You are from below; I am from above. You belong to this world; I do not belong to this world.

They answered, "Our father is Abraham." Jesus said to them, "If you are Abraham's children, then do what Abraham did.

You are doing as your father does." They said to him, "We are not illegitimate children. We have one father, God himself."

The Jews said to him, "Now we are sure that you are possessed! Abraham is dead and so are the prophets, and yet you say, 'If anyone observes my teaching, he will never know what death is!'

The Jews said to him, "You are not fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?"

As he said this he spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva, and he put the clay on the man's eyes,

and said to him, "Go and wash them in the Pool of Siloam"?? name which means One who has been sent. So he went and washed them, and went home able to see.

Then his neighbors and people who had formerly seen him begging, said, "Is not this the man who used to sit and beg?"
