knowing this, that the Law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and unruly, for the ungodly and sinful, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,

But for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me especially Christ Jesus might show forth all his longsuffering, as an example to those who should hereafter believe in him to life everlasting.

This charge I commit to thee, my child Timothy, in accordance with the directions of the prophets before given to thee, that thou mayst in them war the good warfare,

Charge those who are rich in this world that they be not highminded, nor place their hope in uncertain riches, but in God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; that they do good,
