As a thorn goeth up into the hand of a drunkard, so is a parable in the mouth of fools.

The crown of pride, the drunkards of Ephraim shall be trodden under feet.

Awake, ye drunkards, and weep; and howl, all ye drinkers of wine, because of the new wine; for it is cut off from your mouth.

For while they are folded together as thorns, and while they are drunken as drunkards, they shall be devoured as stubble fully dry.

And they shall say to the elders of his city, This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard.

Awake, ye drunkards, and weep; and howl, all ye drinkers of wine, because of the new wine; for it is cut off from your mouth. For a nation is come up upon my land, strong, and without number, whose teeth are the teeth of a lion, and he hath the cheek teeth of a great lion.

And your spoil shall be gathered like the gathering of the caterpillar: as the running to and fro of locusts shall he run upon them.

If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people;

That which the palmer-worm hath left hath the locust eaten; and that which the locust hath left hath the canker-worm eaten; and that which the canker-worm hath left hath the caterpillar eaten. He hath laid my vine waste, and barked my fig-tree: he hath made it clean bare, and cast it away; its branches are made white.

And the shapes of the locusts were like to horses prepared for battle; and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men. And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions. And they had breast-plates, as it were breast-plates of iron; and the sound of their wings was as the sound of chariots of many horses running to battle. read more.
