At that time Jesus answered and said: I thank thee, Father, Lord of heaven and of earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them to babes. Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in thy sight. All things have been delivered to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son, but the Father; nor does any one know the Father, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him.

As thou hast sent me into the world, so I send them into the world; and for them I sanctify myself, that they also may be sanctified through the truth. I pray, not for these only, but for those also who shall believe on me through their word; that they all may be one, as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. My little children, I write these things to you, that you may not sin: and yet, if any one sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And he is the expiation for our sins: not for ours only, but for the sins of the whole world. And by this we know that we do know him, if we keep his commandments.
