And it came to pass, as he was in a certain place praying, that, when he ceased, one of his disciples said to him: Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples. And he said to them: "When you pray, say, Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done, as in heaven, so on earth. Give us, day by day, the bread sufficient for our support; read more.
and forgive us our sins, for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. And he said to them: Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go to him at midnight, and say to him, Friend, lend me three loaves; for a friend of mine, who is on a journey, has come to me, and I have nothing to set before him? And he from within shall answer and say, Trouble me not; the door is already closed, and my children and myself are in bed; I can not rise and give you. I say to you, Although he will not arise and give him, because he is his friend, yet, on account of his importunity, he will arise and give him as many as he needs. And I say to you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you. For every one that asks, receives; and he that seeks, finds; and to him that knocks, it shall be opened. If a son ask bread of any one of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he, instead of a fish, give him a serpent? Or if he ask an egg, will he give him a scorpion? If, then, you, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

And he spoke a parable to them, that they ought always to pray, and not to become weary, saying: There was in a certain city a judge, who neither feared God nor regarded man. And there was a widow in that city, and she came to him, and said: Avenge me on my opponent at law. read more.

I say to you, that he will avenge them speedily. Yet, when the Son of man comes, will he find the faith on the earth?

And the publicans also came to be immersed, and they said to him: Teacher, what shall we do?

Then Jesus left the multitudes, and went into the house. And his disciples came to him and said: Explain to us the parable of the tares of the field.

And when he was alone, those who were about him, with the twelve, asked him the meaning of the parable.

And when he had gone into the house, away from the multitude, his disciples asked him about the dark saying.

And they asked him, saying: Why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?

And when he had come into the house, his disciples asked him privately: Why were we not able to cast it out?

And in the house, his disciples again asked him about the same matter.

Tell us, when shall these things be? And what shall be the sign when all these things are about to be accomplished?
