It is enough for the disciple to be like his teacher, and the servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more will they call those of his household!

But when the Pharisees saw it, they said to him, "Look, your disciples are doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath." He said to them, "Have you not read what David did, when he was hungry, and those who were with him: how he entered the house of God and ate the consecrated bread which was not lawful for him to eat, nor for those who were with him, but only for the priests? read more.
Or have you not read in the Law that on the Sabbath the priests in the temple profane the Sabbath, and are innocent? I tell you that one greater than the temple is here. And if you had known what this means, 'I desire mercy, and not sacrifice,' you would not have condemned the guiltless. For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath." And he went on from there, and went into their synagogue. And behold, there was a man with a withered hand. And they asked him, "Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?" so that they might accuse him. He said to them, "What man of you, if he has one sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will not lay hold of it and lift it out? Of how much more value is a man than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath." Then he said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." And he stretched it out, and it was restored as whole as the other. But the Pharisees went out and plotted against him, how they might destroy him.

Now the chief priests and the whole council sought false testimony against Jesus that they might put him to death, but they found none, though many false witnesses came forward. At last two came forward and said, "This fellow said, 'I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.'"

And they led Jesus to the high priest; and all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes were assembled. But Peter followed him at a distance, right into the courtyard of the high priest. And he sat with the guards and warmed himself at the fire. Now the chief priests and the whole council sought testimony against Jesus to put him to death, but they found none. read more.
For many bore false witness against him, but their testimonies did not agree. Then some stood up and bore false witness against him, saying, "We heard him say, 'I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and in three days I will build another not made with hands.'" Yet even then their testimony did not agree. And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, "Have you no answer to make? What is it that these men testify against you?" But he was silent and made no answer. Again the high priest asked him, "Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?" And Jesus said, "I am. And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven." The high priest tore his clothes and said, "Why do we need any more witnesses? You have heard the blasphemy. What do you think?" And they all condemned him as worthy of death. Then some began to spit on him, and to blindfold him, and to beat him, and to say to him, "Prophesy!" And the guards received him with slaps in the face.

And they began to accuse him, saying, "We found this man perverting our nation and forbidding to pay taxes to Caesar, saying that he himself is Christ, a king."

They answered him, "If he were not an evildoer, we would not have handed him over to you."

And if I cast out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they shall be your judges.

If Satan also is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand? For you say that I cast out demons by Beelzebub. And if I cast out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they will be your judges.

The people answered, "You have a demon. Who is seeking to kill you?"

And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem said, "He is possessed by Beelzebub, and by the prince of demons he casts out the demons." So he called them to himself and said to them in parables: "How can Satan cast out Satan? If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. read more.

No one can enter a strong man's house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man. And then he will plunder his house. Truly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they utter; but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin" because they said, "He has an unclean spirit."

The Jews answered him, "Are we not right in saying that you are a Samaritan and have a demon?"

Then his fame spread throughout all Syria, and they brought to him all sick people who were afflicted with various diseases and pains, and those who were demon-possessed, epileptics, and paralytics, and he healed them.

When evening had come, they brought to him many who were demon-possessed. And he cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick.

And demons also came out of many, crying, "You are the Son of God!" But he rebuked them, and would not allow them to speak, because they knew that he was the Christ.

Then they brought to him a demon-possessed man who was blind and mute, and he healed him, so that the mute man both spoke and saw. And all the people were amazed and said, "Could this be the Son of David?" But when the Pharisees heard this they said, "It is only by Beelzebub, the prince of demons, that this fellow drives out demons." read more.
Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them, "Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand. If Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand? And if I cast out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your sons cast them out? He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me scatters. Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come. "Either make the tree good, and its fruit good; or make the tree bad, and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit. You brood of vipers! how can you speak good, when you are evil? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned."

But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying out in the temple, "Hosanna to the Son of David!" they were indignant;

Now some of the scribes were sitting there, reasoning in their hearts, "Why does this man speak like this? He is blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?"
