"Listen to me, O Jacob, and Israel my called: I am he; I am the first, I also am the last.
For Moses indeed said to the fathers, 'The Lord your God will raise up a prophet for you from among your brothers, like me. You shall listen to him in all things whatever he says to you.
The LORD your God will raise up to you a prophet from the midst of you, of your brothers, like me. You shall listen to him.
This is that Moses, who said to the children of Israel, 'God will raise up a prophet for you from among your brothers, like me.'
"Come, everyone who thirsts, to the waters. Come, he who has no money, buy, and eat. Yes, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Why do you spend money for that which is not bread? and your labor for that which doesn't satisfy? Listen diligently to me, and eat you that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness. Turn your ear, and come to me; hear, and your soul shall live: and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.
Hear the word of the LORD, you rulers of Sodom. Listen to the law of our God, you people of Gomorrah.

When the disciples heard it, they fell on their faces, and were very afraid. Jesus came and touched them and said, "Get up, and do not be afraid." Lifting up their eyes, they saw no one, except Jesus alone. As they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them, saying, "Do not tell anyone what you saw, until the Son of Man has risen from the dead." The disciples asked him, saying, "Then why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?" He answered them, "Elijah indeed comes first, and will restore all things, but I tell you that Elijah has come already, and they did not recognize him, but did to him whatever they wanted to. Even so the Son of Man will also suffer by them." Then the disciples understood that he spoke to them of John the Baptist.

For we did not follow cunningly devised tales, when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? This is he who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not with the water only, but with the water and the blood.
